Pilgrimage to the Holy Land

 Friends of the Holy Land in partnership with the Catenian Association

Thursday 22nd February - Friday 1st March 2024

Your opportunity to join a unique pilgrimage to the Holy Land – organised for Friends of the Holy Land in partnership with the Catenian Association. 
The pilgrimage will be led by the Rt. Rev John Arnold, Bishop of Salford, supported by Fr John Deehan and Revd Prebendary John Reese.
Fr John Deehan is the Parish Priest at the Church of Our Lady Help of Christians in the Parish in Kentish Town and also the FHL Diocesan Coordinator for the Westminster Diocese, appointed by the Cardinal. He has extensive experience in leading pilgrimages to the Holy Land. Revd Prebendary John Reese served in the Diocese of Hereford and was a member of the General Synod of the Church of England. After retiring, John and his wife Hazel, spent time at St George’s in Jerusalem, where John was the Chaplain at St George’s College. John is a member of the FHL Management Committee. He writes “when we walk in the footsteps of Jesus, in the land where the story of God’s faithfulness unfolded, meeting our Christian brothers and sisters whose home it is, we see the wonder of the Gospel through a new lens. It is a blessing that breathes new fire into faith and worship."

Peter Rand, FHL Vice Chair and Executive Trustee, who has helped put together this unique pilgrimage, shares his thoughts that “This pilgrimage will cover all the principle biblical sites, whilst also engaging with the ‘living stones’ of the Christian community, especially in Bethlehem, Nazareth and Amman. Places will be limited, so please sign up as soon as you are able.”

The Catenian Association – Members of the Catenians and their families are strong supporters of Friends of the Holy Land, so FHL is pleased to be arranging this pilgrimage in partnership with the Association. Catenians are an international social network that provide an oasis of calm for busy families. It’s the place to find a group of new friends who also share a Catholic ethos. Catenian life is based on friendship, which is developed through monthly meetings in local Circles and a varied social programme. The pilgrimage will be meeting local members in Nazareth.

The core pilgrimage will be 8 nights in the Holy Land with an optional extension to Jordan of 4 nights, from Friday 1st March - Tuesday 5th March 2024.

    One of the purposes of the pilgrimage is to meet and support local Christians. We will be entertained one evening for dinner by local families, we will meet the local Christian community and visit FHL projects in Bethlehem and Amman

    Holy Land Pilgrimage Accommodation - 2 nights at the Gloria Hotel in Jerusalem, 3 nights at Manger Square Hotel in Bethlehem and 3 nights at St Mary's Well Hotel in Nazareth.

    Optional Jerusalem Extension for 4 nights following the Holy Land Pilgrimage.

  • Flights*

    Return flights will be available from London or Manchester for the Holy Land Pilgrimage. The flights have not been released yet so the times are subject to change. All-inclusive package price will be honoured.

    For the Jordan extension, return flight will be to London Heathrow. If you want to return to Manchester, there will be a supplement cost.
