1,700th Anniversary of the Council of Nicaea

Join the Parish of Great St Bartholomew as they visit the sites of the 7 Ecumenical Councils of the Church: The First and Second Councils of Nicaea (325 and 787); The three Councils of Constantinople (381, 553 and 680); the Council of Ephesus (431); and the Council of Chalcedon (451).
Stay in Izmir and meet the Anglican community there. 
Visit Ephesus archaeological site and walk in the ruins of the basilica where the Council met in 431AD.  
Visit Nicaea - modern Iznik 
Stay in Istanbul and visit the sites of the Councils

    NICAEA

    Drive to Iznik (modern day Nicaea) and vist the area of the underwater basilica where the First Council of Nicaea was most likely held 4th July 325


    CONSTANTINOPLE

    Visit Hagia Irene museum on the site where the First Council of Constantinople met from May to July 381

    Hagia Sophia where the Second Council met from 5th May to 2nd June 553
